Rise and shine!!
I had to get up at 6 o’clock this morning, put on clean clothes, pack up my campsite, feed my kitties, find a place to wash up, and then trek all the way to downtown Berkeley for an emergency eye exam at 9 o’clock. …. Last month, my one good eye went from 20-30 to 20-70 in just two weeks. An alarming deterioration of my vision. And if it keeps deteriorating at that rate, I’m gonna be in big trouble real soon since my other eye doesn’t work at all. Compounding the problem, my regular eye doctor had no explanation for the sudden loss of vision. Which is why I scheduled this appointment with another eye doc to get a second opinion. My eyes are in precarious shape to begin with — I’ve got glaucoma, had detached retina surgery, had cataracts surgery, have a permanently disfigured eyeball, and now this. So the possibility of going blind is an acute concern these days.
So I’m rushing down the road to get to my appointment on time. (Of course I slip in the mud and fall on my ass right into the mud, slathering the side of my jacket and pants with mud, and I had to spend an extra 15 minutes cleaning that up!).
The good news is: The eye doc said that my vision wasn’t actually deteriorating. The artificial lens that had been implanted in my eye 6 months ago when I had cataracts surgery had moved slightly, which altered the prescription of the lens and caused the change in my vision. Which can be corrected with prescription glasses. So I’m not going blind after all (“WHEW!!”).
I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. Sheesh!
