A brief Jerry Garcia antecdote

Somebody asked me if this story was true and I said that I heard it from a very reliable source — a stoned out Deadhead.

When Jerry Garcia was a young man, before he started the Grateful Dead, he worked for awhile in a music store selling guitars. There’s a famous story where this aspiring young guitarist comes into the store one day, picks up one of the electric guitars, reels off a couple of hotshot guitar riffs that he had copied from somebody else, and then abruptly stopped playing. . . Garcia looked at him and said: “Whatsa’ matter? You run out of talent?” Ha ha.
