Pruning the herd

The flock of wild turkeys has returned to my campsite. Which I take as a sign that the coyote has left the vicinity. . . Though I wouldn’t be surprised if the turkeys are having conversations among themselves like: “Hey, do you know whatever happened to Joe. He was lagging behind in the back of the herd. But then when I looked back there he had completely disappeared.”
