Top Cat — or “T.C.” as he was known by his street name — was like one of the first “homeless street people” cartoon characters for kids. I mean, he lived in back alleys, ate out of the garbage, got rousted by the cops. . . Little did I know at the time that Top Cat would turn out to be one of the role models of my youth.
