“Psychedelic Music For Lost Souls & Warped Minds” was an 8-song demo I recorded in 1993. It’s me on guitar and vocal, with some guitar and vocals over-dubs, and then tweaked out with recording studio psychedelic special effects. Professionally recorded on 8-track reel-to-reel tape.
It was like a once-in-a-lifetime dream come true for me. I had spent a lifetime reading about the Beatles and George Martin in the Abbey Road recording studios. So it was like a Walter Mitty trip (there’s an obscure reference) for me to experience that.
After finishing the recordings I dropped some acid. The acid was just starting to come on as the guy who engineered the session played it back for me. On these big, studio-quality speakers. And it was one of the best things I had ever heard. This pure mind candy, with this weird, creamy, witchy, ethereal, other-worldly spiritual dimension to it. Of course I was tripping on acid so iit could have just been a hallucination from the LSD. But that’s why I had set up the whole session in the first place. To get myself off.
I still have the master tapes. And some day I’d like to mix them and master them and put them out. But God knows in what format. Do people even release CDs anymore?
