A very weird night a “dark night of the soul” night

I woke up last night in the middle of the night. 3 AM. It was one of those “dark nights of the soul” nights. I had this horrible nightmare where it ended with me carrying a big cross on my back to crucify myself and commit suicide. One of of THOSE awful horrible dreams.

So it’s 3 in the morning. And I’m lying there on my back at my campsite. After this horrible dream. And there’s this warm wind blowing in my face. We’re in the middle of a heat wave in Berkeley and it’s still nearly 80 degrees in the middle of the night. So I’m feverish and getting crazy from the heat.

Then it starts flash-lightening. The lightening is so bright it completely lights up the woods like it’s daytime. So it’s just getting weirder and weirder. Then it starts raining. Which is even weirder. Rain in Berkeley in August. I start to think a demonic occult presence has descended on me to ruin my life.

Then the thunder hits. Thunder crackling and rolling across the sky. Loud booming thunder. Along with many more flashes of lightening and rain. I start to wonder if this is the Apolocalypse unfolding before me. And God is going to start hurling down lightening bolts on wayword sinful mankind. And destroy this Universe for kicks.

At 6 AM the skyline on the horizon turns a BRIGHT orange. And its so orange I seriously wonder if there’s a fire on the mountain and the Berkeley hills have caught on fire.. That’s how weird this morning is.

I realize the orange sky is just the light of the morning sun arising on the horizon. Another day. Here we go
. Feed my feral cats.
